I'm looking to upgrade my gaming setup and need some advice on CPU options. I enjoy playing CPU-intensive games that have heavy mods, so I want to make sure I choose a strong CPU that won't hold me back. I've been considering the 7700X, 9700X, and 5800XT as potential choices. Are these CPUs too powerful for a 5070 graphics card, or would they work well together? Also, which one would offer the best value for my needs?

For gaming, ideally you want something like a 9800X3D or a 7800X3D, but if you can't swing those, the 9700X is still a solid choice for both gaming and everyday productivity.
If you're looking for top performance, you can't go wrong with the 7700X or 9700X. They're definitely not too strong for the 5070, especially when you're into CPU-heavy games. Just check prices for DDR5 RAM, since that's what those CPUs need to perform their best.
Honestly, there's no such thing as a CPU being too strong. The real worry is whether your CPU is strong enough for the games you want to play. I'd recommend going for the cheapest option between the 7700X and 9700X for the best bang for your buck.
It's important to note that out of those options, the 5800XT requires an AM4 platform while the 7700X and 9700X are both AM5. Given the current prices of DDR5 RAM, building with an AM5 CPU might end up being more expensive. Just something to keep in mind!

I didn't realize the 5800XT was AM4! I've already planned my setup around AM5, so that works for me.
