I'm in the process of building a new PC because my current one isn't cutting it anymore. I'm planning to buy a 5070Ti, but I'm torn between getting the 7800X3D or the 9800X3D. The price difference where I live is about $170, so I could use some advice. What do you all think?

The performance difference between the two is roughly 5%. If the price gap is too high, I’d say it’s not worth splurging too much. Usually, the difference is around $50, but if it's more, just stick with the 7800X3D.
The 7800X3D still has a solid lifespan, but the 9800X3D will likely last longer. Additionally, the R9 9900X is competitively priced and offers better overall performance, so if your budget allows it, you might want to go for what fits your needs for the next 5-8 years.
If you're gaming at 1080p, the 9800X3D is the way to go. For 4K, you'd be better off considering the 7600X unless you're into very specific games that really benefit from extra cache, like Tarkov or MSFS.
Both CPUs can handle a 5070Ti with ease. However, the 9800X3D offers a couple of notable upgrades:
1. It has a better AVX 512 implementation, which is great for workstation tasks and emulating PlayStation games.
2. It features an inverted 3D stacked cache that helps with cooling and achieving higher boost clocks.
If those improvements matter to you, then go with the 9800X3D. Otherwise, stick to the cheaper 7800X3D and keep the extra money.
If you're looking to save some cash, go for the 7800X3D. Honestly, you might even save more by choosing the 7600X instead.
I'm just curious how long the 7800X3D will hold up in gaming.
