Which CPU Should I Choose for Gaming and Content Creation: Ryzen 7 7800X3D or Intel 14700KF?

I'm looking to build a PC primarily for gaming and content creation and was set on getting a Ryzen 7 7800X3D paired with a used RTX 3090, which would cost me about $1700 total. However, I just found a pre-built CyberpowerPC with an Intel 14700KF and a brand new RTX 4070 Super for $1500. With financing, it drops to about $750 upfront. What do you all think about this option?

Neither option is bad; Intel's improved their chips, but for gaming, the 7800X3D has a clear edge. Just remember that AMD chips like the 5800X3D still perform great. Both have their strengths, really, so it depends on what you prioritize.

The 7800X3D is better for gaming, but keep in mind the 24GB VRAM with the 4070 Super is really useful. And $750 for a new Intel i7 with an RTX 4070 Super is an amazing deal! Just curious, why is it priced so low?

For content creation, I’d avoid the Intel KF version. Go for the K since Quick Sync is really helpful there—it's a huge advantage for video work!

Can you share more about what you mean by $750 out the door? Is that some kind of rebate or are you committing to some in-store credit plan?

Maybe it's $750 upfront and the rest in installments?

I just switched from a high-end Intel CPU to the 7800X3D and can say that the gaming performance is on another level. If gaming is your focus, definitely go with the AMD option.

But keep in mind, if you're doing video editing, the 7800X3D might not be as fast due to its clock speeds.

What resolution will you be gaming at? If you also plan on any AI or ML tasks, the 3090 will be a better bet due to its VRAM. For general gaming, performance is quite comparable. Plus, the AM5 socket on the 7800X3D is expected to be supported until 2027 and beyond, so you could upgrade later.
