Which CPU should I choose: Ryzen 7 5700X, 5700X3D, or go for AM5?

I'm trying to figure out whether I should upgrade my CPU to a Ryzen 7 5700X, go for the pricier 5700X3D, or take the leap to an AM5 setup. My current build includes a Ryzen 5 5600G, RX 7600, and 16GB of DDR4 RAM on a B450 Gaming X motherboard. I feel like I need a better CPU since my current one is bottlenecking performance, especially in CPU-intensive games like MMOs and large FPS titles. The 5700X is around 160 Euros, while the 5700X3D is about 240 Euros. Upgrading to AM5 would mean spending around 450-500 Euros for a new motherboard, RAM, and CPU, which I wasn't planning to do at this point. I'm content with my setup for now but want to ensure it's future-proof for another 2-3 years. Would it be more cost-effective to get the 5700X for a decent upgrade, or is the performance leap of the 5700X3D worth the extra cash? Also, is upgrading to AM5 a smart move, or should I just wait?

You mentioned pricing; do those Euros you listed reflect new or used components? I've seen 5700X3Ds going for about £150 here in the UK! That said, your local market might vary, and you might score a great deal if you shop around.

Yeah, I found it cheap online, but I'm wary of warranties. I'd rather pay a bit more for peace of mind, to be honest.

Honestly, the 5700X might not be that big of an improvement over your 5600G. The 5700X3D is a better choice if you can stretch your budget since it'll really help in those demanding games, and it allows you to hold off on upgrading to AM5 for a while. If you want value, go for the 5700X3D!

That's a good point. If you can get the 5700X3D it might save you from needing to upgrade to AM5 right away.

5700X3D is the way to go! You're getting excellent value for bang-for-buck, and you don’t need to upgrade your motherboard right now. Just be cautious of any rising prices in your area before committing!

Consider looking at the 5800X if you're open to AM4 upgrades; some people have had great deals on it lately. It can often be found cheaper than the 5700X3D and still gives you fantastic performance. If it’s available to you, it might make the AM4 option more tempting!

Thanks! I’ll check out the prices for the 5800X and see if it’s worth it!
