I recently got myself a 21:9 1440p ultrawide monitor to boost my productivity. Right now, I primarily use two browser windows side by side. I also enjoy working with multiple desktops. I use Thunderbird for my business email with Microsoft Business Basic, which I keep open on a second workspace, but I want to make sure I get notifications on my main workspace. Sometimes, I use the cloud storage tied to my Microsoft account. While I've heard GNOME offers better integration for that, I don't need automatic backups—uploading directly through a browser works for me. Considering all this, between KDE Plasma and GNOME, which one would you recommend? Also, I'm looking to easily switch workspaces using F5-F8.

Choosing between KDE and GNOME really boils down to personal preference. GNOME is great for promoting multiple workspaces, while KDE Plasma is all about customization and power. If you like pinning windows in specific layouts, KDE's tiling feature is pretty handy; you can drag windows and snap them into place while holding shift. There's even a neat video that shows off how well it works! Both environments let you drag windows into corners, but KDE gives you more options to tweak things to your liking.

That sounds exactly like what I need! I stick to a single monitor, so I think I’ll give KDE Plasma a try first.
