Which GPU Should I Choose: 5070 Ti or 9070 XT?

I'm currently using a 1660 Ti but will be upgrading to an AMD Ryzen 5800X3D soon, and I want to stick with the AM4 platform until AM6 comes out. I'm looking for GPU recommendations under $800 and I'm mainly considering the 5070 Ti and 9070 XT. Even though I know it might be overkill, I'd like to maximize performance for future-proofing, especially since I'd want to use it in a new AM6 build later. My gaming target is 1080p with a focus on playing titles like BF6, Arc Raiders, Deadlock, Risk of Rain 2, and CS2 at 144 fps or higher, while keeping good graphics quality.

I'm leaning towards the 5070 Ti, specifically the PNY OC model, because:
- It looks like a straightforward installation and driver update, and I have no experience with AMD cards, which seems riskier to me.
- From what I've seen, the 5070 Ti seems to surpass the 9070 XT in frame rates, especially at 1080p.
- I can get it at MSRP, so the price difference isn't much.

On the other hand, I see that the 9070 XT is cheaper by about $70-80 and seems to offer better speeds and rasterization. However, I'm concerned about the AMD GPU experience versus NVIDIA's.

If anyone can share advantages of the 9070 XT over the 5070 Ti or insight into making the switch to AMD, I'd love to hear it. I really want to make a wise investment without overspending!

If you're comfortable making the switch to AMD, I’d suggest going that route. I switched from Nvidia a while back and have no regrets, thanks to better compatibility with various games and platforms. Plus, the performance is quite solid!

If performance is what you're after, go with the 9070 XT. It won't give you the best DLSS or ray tracing performance like the 5070 Ti, but you’ll get great raw power and a lower price. Both cards will do well, but if you value those AI features, the 5070 Ti is your better choice.

Rasterization is basically how traditional rendering works without ray tracing. The 9070 XT is typically priced at around 80% of the 5070 Ti, with only a slight performance difference for regular rasterized graphics—maybe 5% difference, but around 15-20% lower for ray tracing. In terms of tweaking performance, NVIDIA cards usually come pretty much optimized, whereas AMD allows more tuning options like undervolting and overclocking, which can lead to better performance if done right. But honestly, either card is a bit overkill for 1080p at 144 fps.

Yeah, especially the 50 series cards have a lot of overclocking potential. They've been solid in my experiences too!

I faced the same dilemma and ended up switching from a 3070 to the 9070 XT due to its better VRAM. With both cards being so similar in specs, I say save the extra cash and go for the 9070 XT. The installation is simple too; just make sure to uninstall your old NVIDIA drivers first to avoid hiccups. Plus, if you're not really into undervolting, you don't need to worry about that either. Going with the cheaper option lets you use the extra cash on upgrades in other areas, like a monitor—1080p is becoming a bit outdated anyway!

The RX 9070 XT usually delivers better value and performs well at 1080p, easily hitting high frame rates in the games you mentioned. If you're looking for the best performance per dollar, the 9070 XT might be the way to go.

Consider trying the RX 9060 XT 16GB. It’s cheaper and can hold you over until you decide to upgrade again. It's a solid option for a budget setup!
