Which GPU Should I Choose for an Upgrade: RTX 5060 Ti, RTX 5070, or RX 9060 XT?

Hey everyone! I'm looking to upgrade my GPU to improve my gaming experience. I've got a self-built gaming PC originally designed for 1080p but now I'm using a 2K monitor. Here are my specs:

- Motherboard: MSI Z390-A Pro
- CPU: Intel Core i5 9600K @ 3.4 GHz
- RAM: Kingston HyperX Fury Black 16GB (8x2) DDR4 @ 2666 MHz
- Current GPU: MSI Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 Ti Gaming X 8GB
- PSU: Xilence Gaming Series XN225 650W CM

My 3060 Ti is struggling to maintain 60 FPS on modern games, even at low to medium settings with DLSS. I'm considering the following GPUs:

- RTX 5060 Ti 16GB
- RTX 5070 12GB
- RX 9060 XT 16GB

My goal is to consistently hit 60+ FPS at 2K resolution with high settings and moderate ray tracing if possible. I primarily play graphically demanding titles like Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, Black Myth: Wukong, and Resident Evil 4 Remake. Which GPU do you think would be the best upgrade for my setup? Also, will I need a new PSU?

If ray tracing is a priority, go for the 5070. The 5060 Ti is decent, but if the price difference isn't huge, the extra performance with the 5070 is worth it. The RX 9060 XT is a solid option too but weaker in ray tracing. Just be mindful that AMD's resale value isn't as good as Nvidia's if you're looking to upgrade again in a couple of years.

I definitely recommend the 5070, but also consider future-proofing with a CPU upgrade as part of your plan. And since you're currently running with 16GB of RAM, you might look into bumping it up to 32GB for better performance overall. It’s a crazy RAM market now, so reselling your current kit might help.

Out of the options you listed, the RTX 5070 is the best choice. It offers a performance boost of about 30-35% compared to the other two. Even though it has 12GB of VRAM, that's sufficient for your gaming needs at the settings you want. The 5060 Ti and RX 9060 XT are cheaper, but their prices have been inflated due to supply issues. You might also want to consider a CPU upgrade to fully utilize the 5070's power; the i5 9900K would be an excellent option if you find it at a good price. And don't worry, you likely won't need a new PSU!

At 2K, your CPU won't be the main bottleneck at high settings. Stick with solid 1080p options and take advantage of DLSS for smoother gameplay. If you're set on the 5070 but budget is tight, a used 4070 can be a smart buy too. Just don't forget to factor in your total costs and savings for these upgrades!

Definitely consider used options. Prices can be wild, especially in different markets.

True! Sometimes buying used can get you a great deal without sacrificing too much performance.

Just a heads up, the real issue may lie with your CPU. While upgrading the GPU can help performance in some games, your Intel i5 9600K might bottleneck the setup, especially at 2K resolutions. It could be worth checking your CPU usage alongside the GPU to confirm where the limits are. Just saying, you might need to upgrade both to get the best experience!

Totally agree! The i5 is going to struggle with those higher-end GPUs, especially in demanding games. Keep an eye on that CPU load while gaming!

Exactly! It’s a common issue when people upgrade GPUs without checking the CPU performance first. Might need to plan for both.
