Which GPU Should I Choose: GT 1030 or RX 550?

I'm trying to decide between two budget GPUs: the GT 1030 (GDDR5 version) and the RX 550 (4GB GDDR5 128-bit). My setup has an Intel Core i5-4570, and I'm mainly looking to play mid-range games. I know there are better options out there, but I'm limited by what's available locally and my budget. I'd love some advice on the advantages and disadvantages of both cards!

I've been using the GT 1030 for about six years. It's surprisingly capable, even for some demanding games like Monster Hunter World, though you'll need to keep settings in check. It handles easier games like Valorant and CSGO quite well. Just keep in mind it's not great for anything beyond 1080p—definitely forget about 4K or anything RTX related. If you're sticking with older games, it might just surprise you!

Definitely get the RX 550. It's usually better across the board for gaming and that's the one I'd recommend!

The RX 550 generally performs about 10% better in gaming performance than the GT 1030, so I'd go for that one if it fits your budget better!

According to some benchmarks, the RX 550 looks like the better option. While I personally might lean towards NVIDIA brand out of preference, performance-wise, the RX 550 would usually outperform the GT 1030. Just keep in mind that both these cards are older tech and might need some maintenance if they've been used a lot. Check the thermal paste for dryness if you're worried about overheating!

It's worth noting that some benchmarks aren't entirely reliable, so always double-check with trusted sources before making your decision!

I've liked my GT 1030, but I always wished it were a bit stronger. The 4GB on the RX 550 is a big plus, especially for newer titles. You can push some games like Cyberpunk or GTA, but you'll never hit 60fps. If you play recent games, you might want to consider how tight 2GB can feel.
