Which GPU Should I Choose: RX 7700XT or 5060ti 8GB?

I'm putting together a PC with an AMD 9600x CPU, but I'm torn between getting the RX 7700XT and the 5060ti with 8GB of VRAM. In Korea, the 7700XT (12GB) costs $430, while the 5060ti (8GB) is sitting at $470. Is the difference in 4GB VRAM significant? Will it impact performance in AAA games like Monster Hunter: World? Looking for some advice!

12GB is more than enough for most games at high settings in 1440p. VRAM mainly helps with textures, and as games evolve, you might find yourself adjusting settings down to manage usage. If you want to be extra safe, aiming for a GPU with 16GB could future-proof your setup.

What resolution are you planning to game at? I think the 5060ti can perform well if it doesn’t hit that VRAM limit too often. For Monster Hunter: World, if you don't mind lowering some settings, you might find the 8GB version works fine for now.

Check out the performance comparisons between the 8GB vs 16GB variants like the 4060ti. The 16GB version tends to lead in several games and can prevent issues like stuttering or crashes when maxing settings. If you’re only looking at these two cards, I’d go with the 7700XT, but if you can find the 16GB 5060ti, that’s likely a better option for Ray Tracing and with DLSS support.

I recently watched a Hardware Unboxed review of the 5060ti 8GB, and there are definitely scenarios where performance drops due to the limited VRAM, especially at 1440p. Just keep that in mind!

From what I’ve been reading, a lot of folks suggest steering clear of 8GB GPUs since they can quickly be a bottleneck, especially for modern titles. I lean towards the 7700XT, but if you’re interested in features like DLSS and Ray Tracing, check if the 5060ti has a 16GB option available. Here in Belgium, the price difference is minimal, and I'd choose the 16GB if it were me!
