Which GPU Should I Upgrade to for More Than Double the Performance of a 1070?

Hey everyone! My 1070 seems to be on its last legs, and I'm looking for a new GPU that can deliver at least twice the performance. I'm not interested in ray tracing or any upscaling technologies since I'm on Linux, where a lot of that isn't available. What I prioritize is raw rasterization performance and maybe keeping power consumption low. Any suggestions?

Since you're using Linux, an AMD GPU is definitely a great choice! I'd recommend either a used RX 6750 XT or a used 3080 if your budget allows. Both provide fantastic value without the proprietary issues some Nvidia cards may have under Linux.

Regarding the newer 5060 Ti with 16GB, it's said to be good with lower power consumption but check the pricing because I’ve seen them go for over $500. Make sure it fits your budget before jumping in!

I've looked around, and the cheapest I see in the US is around $540! Any good deals out there?

I wish! Here, it's nearly $633 for that model.

You might want to consider the RTX 3070 or the RX 6750 XT! Both should be great choices for what you're looking for. The RX 6750 XT in particular offers excellent performance without all the ray tracing features you don't care about.

How do the 7600 XT or 7700 XT stack up against the 6750 though? I'm hesitant to go with older models.

For pure raster performance, the RX 6800 is a solid pick. It gives you a good bump in VRAM too, which can be beneficial in the long run if you want to hold onto it.

Totally agree! Going from 8GB to 12GB VRAM is a nice upgrade if you're looking to keep the GPU for a while.

If you're open to new cards, definitely look into the 5070—it should give you over 2x performance and can handle 1440p gaming well. Just ensure you’re okay with the new 12vHPWR connector besides the extra care needed with it.

RealisticBuyer -

Yeah, but it’s worth checking out the used market too; the 3070 could be a solid alternative if you find it at a good price.

CriticalThinker -

But remember, the 5070 focuses on ray tracing and features you might not need, so it may not be the best fit for you.
