Which GPU Should I Upgrade to from My RTX 3080?

I'm in the market for a new graphics card to upgrade my gaming rig. Currently, I have an RTX 3080 10GB paired with a Ryzen 7 5800X and 32GB of DDR4 RAM, and I game at 1440p on an ultrawide monitor. My main games are sim racers like Assetto Corsa and BeamNG, along with CP2077 and Elden Ring, and I'm looking forward to Witcher 4. I want to replace the 3080 with something newer for my main PC, as I plan to move the old card to my living room setup for my wife. I'm not seeking a massive FPS increase, just something more efficient in terms of heat and power consumption. My budget is around 800€ and I've been considering a 5070Ti at 850€, a 9070XT at 650€, or a 9060XT for about 300€. A friend recommended these options, but I'd love to hear your thoughts!

If you're looking for a noticeable upgrade, the 5070Ti is the bare minimum I'd recommend over the 3080. But honestly, the improvement might not feel worth it for everyone. The 5070Ti offers around 30-40% more performance in raster graphics but shines even more in ray tracing. If you're after that, it might be worth the investment.

True, the 5070Ti could be priced better. But if you sell your 3080 for around $300, it makes the upgrade cheaper if you decide to go for it.

Exactly! If you're into ray tracing, the 5070Ti is a decent choice. But if you're fine with raster performance, consider just sticking with your current setup.

Out of the ones you're considering, I'd say go for the 9070XT. The 9060XT isn’t really an upgrade at all, and the 5070Ti is overpriced for what it offers. The 9070XT gives you better overall performance and features for less money.

For anyone on a budget, the 9060XT could work for your wife's setup. It's not going to boost your PC's gaming power much, but it’s decent for casual use, and you can keep your 3080 for yourself without spending too much.

Thanks! That could be a solid plan.

If you do go with the 9060XT, let us know how it works out!

Honestly, if you really want to feel like you're upgrading, the 5070Ti or 9070XT both provide meaningful upgrades from your 3080. But if you're focusing on power savings, the regular 5070 would give you a slight boost without draining as much power.
