I need help choosing a new graphics card since my old one got water damaged and is beyond repair. I primarily play games like CS2 and Valorant at 1080p on a 540 Hz BenQ monitor. I'm considering either the 5070 or the 9070 XT, but I don't plan on upgrading to 2K or 4K gaming. I'd love to hear your thoughts on which card would perform better for my needs, given that I'm sticking with 1080p gaming.

Spending on a new GPU for just 1080p seems excessive to me. You might want to consider a used 3070 or 3060 Ti instead. They would be more than adequate for your gaming needs and save you some cash.
Performance can vary based on the game. The 9070 XT generally outperforms the 5070, especially across various games at 1080p. However, some games run better on Nvidia hardware like CS2. Therefore, if both cards are priced similarly, the 9070 XT is usually the better choice for gaming. It’s worth checking out some benchmarks for confirmation.
Thanks for the insight! So it sounds like 5070 does slightly better for CS2?
Both GPUs you’re considering are powerful. If your focus is solely on 1080p, you’d be fine with either of them. I lean towards recommending the 9070 XT because it's a bit more future-proof in case you want to upgrade your setup. But considering your preference, the 9060 XT could also be a great option.
I’m not too confident with AMD since my last experience was rough. But I keep hearing good things about the 9070 XT, and I might just take the plunge!
Wow, sorry to hear about your GPU! That’s a bummer. For CS2 and Valorant, a 9060 XT would actually serve you well at 1080p, but if you're looking at the higher-end models, the 9070 XT definitely performs better than the 5070. It’s more suitable if you ever decide to push the resolution higher in the future.
Is the 9070 XT consistently ahead at 1080p? I’ve seen benchmarks where the 5070 performs better and others where it's the opposite. Are we sure about this?
I use a 5070 for both 1440p and light 4K gaming, and it runs smoothly for 1080p. I got mine for around $525, and it came with some game bundles. Honestly, either of the cards you're looking at would work fine for 1080p but might be overkill. If you can snag the 9070 or 9070 XT at a decent price, go for it!

Really? CS2 is more CPU-driven, and Valorant is too. Jumping to a lower-tier card sounds like a downgrade for the games you play.
