I'm upgrading from a 1080 graphics card (finally!) and I'm looking at two options: the AMD 9070 XT and the 5070. They seem to be priced similarly, but I'm unsure which one will give me better performance per price. I'm new to AMD graphics cards, so I appreciate any advice you can offer. Thanks!

The 9070 XT outperforms the 5070 by about 25%. It competes well with the 5070 Ti, has 16GB of VRAM which is a big plus, and offers better performance in ray tracing too. Unless you have a specific need for NVIDIA features like CUDA, I'd recommend the 9070 XT.
Definitely go for the 9070 XT! I opted for the 5070 only because it was significantly cheaper than the 9070 non XT version. If the prices are similar, the XT is the better choice without a doubt.
If youre ever going with linux, Amd is the way to go. its basically required for hdr to work. otherwise the features and dlss of the 5070 more than makes up for it lagging behind in raster performance
I just upgraded from a 5070 to the 9070 XT for just $50 more. I find FSR4 doesn't hold up to DLSS 4 in my main game, Arc Raiders. Although I haven't seen a massive increase in FPS, it might be my 9700X that's holding me back. Just keep in mind that frame generation on NVIDIA is really impressive!
In my opinion, the 9070 XT is superior to the 5070 Ti. If they are priced similarly, the 9070 XT is clearly the way to go as it's a whole tier higher in performance.
I watched a great comparison video by Hardware Unboxed that breaks down the differences nicely. It really helped me decide on my choice!
