Which Graphics Card Should I Choose for Gaming: RTX 5060 Ti or Radeon 9060 XT?

I'm currently using an overclocked GTX 1070 with 8GB VRAM, paired with a Ryzen 7 1700x. Since Windows 10 support is waning and my CPU won't run Windows 11, I'm planning to upgrade. I'm considering the Ryzen 7 5700x, which I can get for about $140. However, I'm unsure about which graphics card to go with. I'm looking at the Asus RTX 5060 Ti Prime OC 8GB for around $570, and the Asus Radeon 9060 XT Prime OC 16GB, which is similarly priced. My priority is smooth gameplay across various games, with no real interest in ray tracing. Any advice on which GPU might be a better fit? Thanks in advance!

I'd go for the 9060 XT 16GB. It just outperforms the 5060 Ti and will serve you better in general gaming.

Totally agree! 9060 XT is the way to go!

I think $570 for the 5060 Ti 8GB is a poor choice. That's comparable to a 5070 12GB, which might be a better fit. You could pick up a 9070 for $600 or the 9060 XT for under $400, which is a steal!

Prices are pretty wild everywhere—$570 is what they're going for here, and 5070s are even worse! It's tough.

You definitely want to avoid any 8GB VRAM cards moving forward, especially for 2025 and later. The 16GB options like the 5060 Ti 16GB or the 9060 XT are much better bets. I'd recommend the 9060 XT—it will perform better in the long run!

Between the two, the 9060 XT is definitely the better choice. The 8GB VRAM on the 5060 Ti is just not viable anymore. That price for the 5060 Ti is outrageous! Save up for the 5060 Ti 16GB only if the price is within 10% of the 9060 XT.

Here, the cards are similar in price, just a $15 difference around that range.
