I'm trying to decide between two graphics cards for gaming: the RTX 5060 Ti with 16GB for about $480 and the RX 7800 XT for around $600. I also plan to do some light Blender work and coding. Which card would be better overall, considering both performance and price?

The RX 7800 XT is generally the better choice of the two. It tends to outperform the 5060 Ti in most gaming scenarios, making it a solid option for your needs. If you can find the 9070 XT at a decent price, that would be an even bigger upgrade!
If you're lucky enough to find the RTX 5070 closer to $600, that could also be a great option. Just remember, availability and pricing can vary quite a bit, especially across regions.
Is $699 a good deal for that?
Looking at performance, the difference between these two cards is about 5-10%, but the price jump from the 5060 Ti to the 7800 XT is a hefty 25%. Think about how much value you want for that price increase!
From my experience, I couldn't spot a RX 7800 XT under $700, so I ended up spending a little extra for the 9070 XT instead. Worth every penny!
True, but prices in Canada can skew higher, like around $572 USD for that card! Definitely worth checking around.
