I'm trying to decide between the RTX 3060 12GB and the RTX 3060 Ti 8GB for gaming at 1080p. I'm also thinking about future-proofing my setup, so I'm wondering which graphics card would be the better choice. Any recommendations?

If you really think about it, the 12GB in the RTX 3060 might age better in the long run. More games are demanding higher VRAM, and 8GB might start to feel limiting sooner rather than later. But honestly, for most current games at 1080p, 8GB should hold up fine for a while.

The RTX 3060 Ti is the better option overall. While it has less VRAM, it's generally faster and performs better for most games. If you're primarily gaming at 1080p, it should give you a solid experience for now and the near future.

But won't the lower VRAM come back to haunt us later?

It's worth mentioning that in a few years, that 8GB might not be enough for new titles. Some folks are hesitant about Nvidia's decision to stick with 8GB on mid-range cards right now. It might be worth considering your long-term gaming needs before making a choice.

The 3060 Ti may have less VRAM, but it's really efficient for most modern games. You can usually get decent visuals by adjusting settings if needed. Plus, the performance difference is significant, with about a 25-30% gain in benchmarks compared to the 3060.

Look, if price is a deciding factor, I'd say aim for the RTX 3060 Ti, but make sure you're not spending more than $225 at this point. I snagged mine for $200 before, which felt fair given the market.

That sounds reasonable, but what about resale value in the future?
