I'm looking to upgrade my Intel Core i3 to one of these three options: Ryzen 5 3600, Ryzen 7 2700X, or Ryzen 7 3700X. Since I'm a bit of a newbie in this area, I'm not sure which one would be the best choice, particularly for gaming purposes. Any advice would be appreciated!

Keep an eye out for second-hand parts! If you're considering used CPUs, you might also check out the 5600 or 5700X—they're newer and might give you better value. Just make sure you know you'll need a new motherboard too!

For gaming, honestly, the performance difference between the Ryzen 5 3600 and the Ryzen 7 3700X isn't huge; they’ll both handle games well. So, if the 3600 is cheaper, it might be the better buy for you.

Just a heads up: if you’ve got an i3-10100F, you'll definitely need a new motherboard to upgrade, as well as maybe new RAM depending on your current setup.

I'd say go for the Ryzen 3700X too. It's a solid choice. You can pair it with a B550 motherboard for a nice setup. Just let me know if you have more questions about compatibility or anything else!

The Ryzen 7 3700X is definitely the way to go if you're aiming for performance. I've been using it for a while and it runs great, even with more demanding games. Honestly, you’ll really appreciate the extra power, especially if you plan on gaming at higher settings.
