I'm planning to upgrade my GPU in the next few weeks and could use some advice. I have a 5700X3D processor and 32GB of RAM, and I'm trying to decide between the 5070 TI and the 9070 XT. The 5070 TI is currently 15-20% more expensive where I live. I tend to play older titles since I usually wait a year or two after release, and I have a 1440p 75Hz monitor and a 4K 120Hz TV that I mostly use for action games. Since I don't think I'll need new frame generation features any time soon, I want to know how both cards perform on Linux. I'm looking to shift away from Windows as much as possible, with a likely dual-boot setup. I'd love to hear your honest experiences with both GPUs on Linux!

If you're going with Linux, I'd recommend the 9070 XT. It just works better overall with fewer headaches.
I upgraded to the 9070 XT after using an Nvidia card for a while, and I found the setup much easier. I've been on Arch for about a year and a half, and switching to AMD was straightforward. The kernel has good basic support built in, so I just needed to install a few extra driver packages for gaming. Overall, I've been happier with the performance of the AMD card on Linux compared to the Nvidia.
There's a catch, though. AMD still lacks HDMI 2.1 support on Linux, regardless of whether you're using their proprietary or open-source drivers.

It's a broader issue; no cards currently have HDMI 2.1 support on Linux because the group that manages the HDMI standard hasn't allowed it yet.
