Which is better for my build: 9600X or 7600X?

Hey everyone! I'm putting together a new PC with a 5070 Ti and I'm stuck on whether to go with the 9600X or the 7600X. The 9600X is about £30-40 more expensive. Do you think the 9600X is really worth that extra cash? Also, will either of these CPUs bottleneck the performance of my 5070 Ti?

Looking at the price difference on PCPP, it's more like £20. The 9600X is indeed faster and more efficient, especially for productivity tasks. If you can swing the extra cash, it might be worth it, but you won't go wrong with the 7600X either! If limited to just those two, I’d lean toward the 7600X. The extra power of the 9600X isn’t really worth the price hike. If you can, look at the 7700X as it’s often a great value and supports modern games much better with 8 cores.

Ultimately, it depends on what you'll be using your PC for. Both CPUs are powerful enough for gaming, and unless you have heavy workloads, you likely won't hit any performance walls. I'd suggest going for the 7600X and using the savings on better RAM or more storage instead!

Based on benchmarks, the performance difference between the 9600X and 7600X is minimal—maybe just 1-2% even when paired with something like a 4090. I’d say unless you’re really trying to max out performance, the 7600X is a solid choice, and you could save that £40 for something else in your build. If you're curious about long-term use, maybe consider jumping to a 7800X3D for better longevity since they might switch sockets next generation!

Honestly, neither CPU will bottleneck your 5070 Ti. They perform quite similarly, so just go for whichever is cheaper. I grabbed my 9600X when it was only $5 more than the 7600X, but if I saw a £30-40 difference, I’d definitely opt for the 7600X instead.

I'd personally recommend sticking with the 7600X, or if your budget allows, going for the 7800X3D. The newer generations usually provide better value for long-term use.
