Which Linux Distro and Desktop Environment Should I Try for Art and Gaming?

I'm an artist who streams my work on Twitch and loves gaming (especially Genshin Impact, which I hear can be tricky to run). I rely on tools like DisplayCal PY3 and ArgyllCMS for calibrating my monitors with a SpyderPro 4 device. I've tried Kubuntu and Mint Cinnamon but wasn't happy with either. I'm looking for a minimalist Linux distro that allows for some customization without needing extensive terminal work. I heard about Fedora Cosmic, but I want to know if there are other options, particularly ones that don't come with unnecessary software. I really liked Nemo as a file manager because of its features like customizable columns and side-by-side view. Also, I've had issues with multiple displays in both Mint and Kubuntu. The cursor seems to be misaligned with my clicks, especially with a vertically oriented monitor. Can anyone recommend a stable distro that offers good support for multi-display setups?

You might want to check out CachyOS or OpenSUSE Aeon. CachyOS is based on Arch, which is typically minimal, while OpenSUSE Aeon is GNOME-based and comes with the bare essentials. It has a solid update system too, so you won’t have to worry about that too much. As for file managers, it's common for distros to have a few extra apps pre-installed, but you can always uninstall what you don’t need later. Just make sure to check out how what you're removing could affect the functionality.

That sounds promising! I'm okay with a few things being installed, but I really want to avoid a full suite of apps I'll never use. I will definitely check OpenSUSE out since the auto-update feature is appealing.
