I'm looking for advice on lightweight Linux distributions for my aging laptop that's struggling with Windows 11. It has an Intel Celeron N4020 processor, 4GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage. I previously tried Linux Mint XFCE but it didn't perform well. I heard that MX Linux and Lubuntu are both lighter options. What do you think? Are there any other alternatives I should consider?

You should definitely give both MX Linux and Lubuntu a shot and see which one you prefer. From my experience, MX Linux tends to be a bit lighter on system resources than Lubuntu, especially if you're running a lower-end machine.
MX Linux with Fluxbox is an awesome lightweight setup! It's lighter than using XFCE, and the interface is pretty straightforward if you're not super familiar with Linux. Just make sure to check out the installation guide for a smooth setup.
If you're looking for something super light, check out Q4OS. It uses the Trinity desktop, which is quite minimal, but still user-friendly. I know some folks who've had great success with it on similar systems.
I’ve tried Q4OS on my old laptop too, and while it has its quirks, it’s pretty fast! Reminds me a bit of Windows XP.

Totally agree! Plus, you can switch to other desktop environments like XFCE or MATE if you want something different later on.
