Hey everyone! I'm looking to dive into Linux, primarily for cybersecurity, but I'm currently aiming for a Sys Admin role. I've done some searching and I know there are loads of resources out there, but I'm curious about something specific. With so many different Linux distributions available, what's the most popular one for Sys Admins? I haven't found a definitive answer and thought you all might have better insights than the endless Google search.
Also, I've heard that installing NVidia graphics cards can be a huge hassle on Linux systems, which worries me since I plan to use a laptop with a 980 GPU from MSI. Is that still true? Or have things improved?

There's actually a lot of helpful resources available if you check the wiki. You might find some useful tips on getting started with Linux there. A little advice: always back up your files, experiment in a VM first, and make sure you understand commands before hitting Enter! It saves a lot of headaches!
Most Sys Admins really gravitate towards Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL). It’s widely used in the industry and great for managing systems. If you're looking for something a bit more casual for everyday use, Fedora is basically the upstream version of RHEL and shares a lot of similarities.
About the NVidia card situation, it’s definitely not the nightmare some make it out to be. Installing on most popular distros is just a few clicks now, so you should be good to go!

Thanks for clarifying! That totally eases my mind about the NVidia install. I was worried it would be a bigger hassle than it actually is. I'm planning to set everything up this weekend!
