I'm looking for recommendations on a Linux distribution as a first-time user. Currently, I'm considering Arch Linux, Linux Mint, and ZorinOS. I have experience primarily with Windows 7 and 10, and I definitely steer clear of Windows 11. What do you all think would be the best choice for me?

A lot of people suggest Linux Mint for newcomers. It's user-friendly, well-maintained, and has plenty of community support, which makes it stable and secure. I've personally been using Mint for a while, and I highly recommend it as a solid starting point.
I wouldn't go for Arch as a first choice; it has a steep learning curve and requires a lot of reading. Stick with mainstream distros like Mint or Zorin for easier adaptability. You're likely to get a smoother experience that way.
ZorinOS is designed to resemble Windows, which could help ease the transition for you. That said, Mint is also a great option. Play around with different desktop environments to see what suits you best before making a decision. Backing up your data is also key before diving in!
If you're just starting out, I’d recommend trying different distributions and desktop environments first. You can use a tool like Ventoy to create a bootable USB or check out DistroSea to test some options. It’s a great way to find what fits your needs without committing right away! You can also look for Live-USB images online to try without installation.
Mint is definitely a solid choice! Even as an experienced user, I still find it reliable and user-friendly. It’s great for anyone who wants a hassle-free experience with Linux.

Zorin's interface really does make switching easier! I appreciated that when I made the change.
