I've been using Linux Mint on my travel computer and absolutely love it, except for the keyboard (thanks HP!). Now, I'm considering switching my gaming computer to Linux as well. I've narrowed it down to a few options: CachyOS, NixOS, and Debian with KDE. I'm also thinking about sticking with Mint but want to explore more. What are the pros and cons of these distros? How are they for gaming, especially with my Alienware m15 r6 and Nvidia graphics? Any insights would be appreciated!

CachyOS is great if you want something straightforward without the typical Arch hassles. Debian is also a classic choice and super reliable, especially if all you want is stability for gaming.

NixOS is definitely different—it requires some setup, but if you're interested in that kind of learning, it’s worth it. It’s high on the learning curve, unlike CachyOS and Debian, which are more user-friendly for a daily driver. Your Nvidia card should work easily with both, though Nix might take some extra effort in configuration.
If you're looking for something that just works, I'd say give Ubuntu a shot—it’s pretty solid overall.
You could try different distros on your travel laptop first. It's less risky, and you won't mind wiping it every so often. Just ensure you have backups!
