I just got a new laptop after a long break from computers and I'm excited to dive back into Linux! I've used Linux Mint before and liked it, but I'm now considering switching to a full Linux install instead of keeping Windows. I've been looking into various distros; my first instinct was to return to Mint, but KDE Plasma 6 has really caught my attention with its customization features. I'm contemplating using Kubuntu since it seems beginner-friendly, but I've also heard about Fedora KDE, though some say it's not as easy for newcomers. I'll primarily use the laptop for general tasks, emulation, and browsing. What distro would be a better fit for me?

You might want to check out Zorin 18! It has a nice interface and is pretty user-friendly too. But if KDE Plasma 6 appeals to you, that’s a solid choice, and I think Kubuntu could work well for a beginner.
Since I'm new to Linux, I found Zorin to be simple and perfect for basic tasks. Maybe you might find it easy as well?
Zorin was on my list too! I’m really looking forward to my laptop arrival this Friday. I've been watching so many videos trying to decide!
Kubuntu is okay, but if you want the best KDE experience, consider PikaOS or UltraMarine, especially with Fedora. You might find they suit your needs better!
I'll definitely take a look at UltraMarine! What makes Kubuntu not the best option, though?
Honestly, openSUSE offers fantastic KDE integration and is really distinct. It has various versions like Tumbleweed for rolling release, or Leap for stability. Definitely worth considering!
I’ve heard of openSUSE, but I thought it was more for advanced users. I’ll check it out thanks!
I recently installed Fedora KDE and had no issues aside from figuring out NVIDIA drivers, which were pretty easy to manage. It feels familiar, and if you've used another distro before, you should be alright!
That’s good to hear! I'm using integrated AMD graphics, so I shouldn’t face major issues, I hope. Honestly, I might just go for Fedora and see where it takes me!

I looked at Zorin, and it seems nice, but I just love the look of Plasma 6 and all the options for customization. I've tried Mint and Zorin before, but KDE has really piqued my interest.
