I'm looking to revive my old laptop by switching its OS to Linux. I've narrowed it down to four distros: Ubuntu, Fedora, ElementaryOS, and Mint. Since I'm pretty accustomed to Windows on my main PC, I'm hoping to switch to something that's user-friendly. I'd love some advice on which distro is best in terms of software compatibility, stability, and ease of use. Any recommendations?

You might want to consider adding Debian 13 to your options since it just got released! It's really stable, especially with the KDE Plasma desktop environment. That setup could work great for your laptop!
Honestly, just try them out! See which package manager and user experience you prefer. That's the best way to find your fit.
If you’re considering those four, I’d really recommend Fedora. It's got a great mix of new features while being pretty stable for everyday use.
Check out the migration page on the wiki for some tips. Also, remember to only use root access when absolutely necessary and be cautious with third-party software! You'll find a lot of helpful info there.
Debian 13? Nice! Will an 'apt update && apt upgrade' get me to the latest version, or do I need to do something else?
