I'm a pretty big gamer but I also do a lot of other tasks, so I need a Linux distro that's not solely focused on gaming. I want something that can perform at least as well as Windows 11. I've heard Mint is beginner-friendly and a solid option, but I'm concerned about its emphasis on stability over security. I'm planning to dual boot with Windows on a separate SSD, and it will be my first time using Linux, so I'm definitely not looking to dive into Arch. Are there other distros I should consider?

Mint is fantastic for newcomers. It feels very Windows-like, making the transition smoother. I installed it recently and have been loving it! It’s easy to use, and the Cinnamon desktop is super intuitive for those coming from Windows. But if you're really into gaming, consider that Mint sometimes lacks the latest updates compared to Fedora.
What about hardware support? Is it good with modern setups?
I think Ubuntu is your best bet if you want solid driver support right out of the box. Mint is stable and great for beginners, but it lags a bit in updates. Try Ubuntu first for your dual boot, and once you're comfy, you can explore other options.
So you're saying I should just start with Ubuntu then branch out later?
Yes! Ubuntu makes things simpler, especially if you're just getting started.
Honestly, I’ve tried all three. Started with Ubuntu, had some issues, then tried Mint but faced random freezes. Now I’m on Fedora KDE, and it’s been rock solid! Performance-wise, they’re all pretty comparable, but Fedora’s been the best for me overall.
I’d go for Fedora! It keeps things up-to-date, which is crucial for gaming performance. Mint is great for beginners, but Fedora’s frequent updates help you stay on top of everything, especially if you're into gaming. Plus, if you go with an NVIDIA GPU, you won't see much difference in performance across these distros. But hey, Fedora definitely rocks the gaming scene!
Is Fedora actually beginner-friendly though? I’m kind of clueless about Linux.
Honestly, Ubuntu isn't a bad option either. It has a huge community for support!

Just a heads-up, some games don't play nice on Linux yet, so make sure to dual boot for those!
