I'm building my first PC and I've decided to go with Linux as my operating system. My main use will be gaming, but I might also get into content creation and streaming later on. While I'd love to dive into Arch Linux, I'm feeling a bit hesitant since it seems quite challenging. I'm searching for a distro that offers a similar experience but is more beginner-friendly. Here are my preferences: I want a lot of freedom with settings and software, a Windows-like desktop environment, and I don't mind using the terminal occasionally for installs and updates. It'd be great if the distro allows for manual or guided partitioning, and I'd prefer a rolling release or at least a stable release with a short cycle that keeps everything up to date. Stability is crucial, along with decent security, and I'd rather not spend too much time maintaining the system post-installation. In the future, I would like the option to switch to Arch if I feel ready. So far, I'm considering Debian, Fedora, openSUSE, and EndeavourOS, but I'm unsure if they fit my needs. Debian Stable might feel a bit outdated, and I have concerns about security and stability with Testing and Unstable. I'm steering clear of Ubuntu due to snap packages. I'd love to hear your recommendations on these options or any others I might have overlooked. Should I just take the plunge and go with Arch? To give you an idea of my build, I have a Ryzen 5 9600X CPU, an RX 6600 XT GPU, a B650 motherboard, and 32GB of 6000MHz CL30 RAM.

While Fedora is excellent, you should also look into openSUSE with the KDE desktop. It offers a good mix of stability and modern features. Plus, the Leap version is more stable while Tumbleweed provides rolling updates. It suits gamers well and maintains a decent security posture.
