I'm in the market for a motherboard and can't seem to settle on one. I'm considering three options: the MSI PRO B850-P, which I really like but I'm worried it might be too much of an entry-level board with worse thermals compared to more gaming-focused options; the MSI B850 EDGE TI, which is highly recommended but seems like overkill for regular gaming; and the MSI X870 GAMING PLUS. I want to pair the motherboard with a 9800x3d and a 9070 xt. I appreciate any advice you can give!

The MSI PRO B850-P should work fine for your needs. It's a solid board that has the basics covered for a good gaming experience.
Have you thought about the MSI Tomahawk? It's a bit more versatile and might be a better fit. But I get that it’s out of stock for you right now.
While some consider the MSI Pro B850 as entry level, I believe it still meets performance requirements. Just ensure it has enough m.2 and PCI-E slots for your setup.
Going with the cheaper B850 that has the features you want is a smart choice. I’d just avoid Asrock this time around. If you’re really torn between the MSI PRO B850-P and the B850 EDGE TI, keep in mind the Edge offers better thermal management and aesthetics.
