Hey everyone! I built my PC about 3-4 years ago and it's been great for my needs. Recently, though, it's feeling a bit sluggish, especially when I'm running multiple applications. I'm mainly using this setup for gaming at 1080p (games like CSGO, AOE II, DOTA, LOL, Fortnite, and City Skylines) and occasionally for light office work. I want to know which part, or parts, would benefit from an upgrade the most. Here are my specs:
- CPU: Intel i5 12400
- RAM: DDR4 16GB
- GPU: Geforce 1030 2GB
- SSD: 1TB
- Monitor: Samsung 24" 1080p
I'm hoping to make my setup feel a bit more responsive for both gaming and everyday tasks. What do you think is bottlenecking my performance?

It sounds like upgrading your CPU and maybe moving to an M.2 SSD could really help boost your performance. Also, if your motherboard supports it, consider upgrading your GPU too—giving it more VRAM might make a difference. By the way, is your network connection good, or are you experiencing any lag there?
Definitely check your motherboard specs before upgrading the CPU. Some boards may only support certain models, so it's good to verify compatibility!
Oh, and don’t forget to consider your power supply unit (PSU)! The wattage matters, especially if you plan on upgrading your GPU.

I'm on a 1Gbps Ethernet connection, so that shouldn't be an issue. Can I just upgrade to the latest Intel CPU, or will I have compatibility problems with my motherboard?
