I'm planning to build a new PC soon and considering either a used 9070XT or a used 5070Ti. I'm curious about which other parts are generally safe to buy used. I know the PSU is a no-go, but I'm unsure about other components. What do you think?

SSDs do wear out over time with writes, but most other components like cases, coolers, and CPUs tend to be fine even if they've seen a lot of use. I've built several rigs with used parts and rarely had issues.

Yeah, I’ve had great luck buying used! It's all about knowing which parts have a decent lifespan left.

Exactly! Just make sure you test everything out once you get it.

Generally, CPUs, RAM, cases, and fans are considered safe to buy used. Just keep in mind that anything can fail, so it’s a good idea to do thorough testing before using any used part. A little extra caution goes a long way!

In my experience, CPUs and memory can be safe buys, but be careful with RAM lately. As for motherboards, I tend to avoid them unless I can see they're part of a working setup before purchasing. Storage and PSUs are often risky bets. Buying a complete working system can help you verify functionality.

Absolutely! Getting a full system is a smart move. Plus, you might score a better deal since people usually sell them without GPUs.

Good point! It's like getting a head start and the peace of mind that everything works.

There is always a risk with used parts, no doubt about it. If you're buying from a place like eBay, look for items that aren't listed as broken since you might be able to get a refund if there's a problem. Just ensure to document everything during the process, right from unboxing to testing. Avoid buying used storage drives from unknown sellers—they can be sketchy.

You can definitely buy used parts, including PSUs, but weigh the risks versus savings. Just be wary; the riskier the purchase, the more you should look for a better price.
