I'm currently in my freshman year of college and already know some Python and Java. I'm looking to start a personal project in a new language to broaden my skills. I realize the choice depends on what I want to do, but which programming languages would really stand out on a resume?

Languages alone won't get you hired; it's all about the projects you build. Most interviews don't focus on the language you use, so keep working on personal projects and make them increasingly complex. If you find a field that requires specific languages like C++, you'll learn that as you go. Just focus on what you're passionate about and deliver completed projects—that's what will impress future employers more than just listing a bunch of languages on your resume.

I see your point, but what if I dive into a field I really like that's outside my current expertise? I'm concerned about having only Python projects when jobs might prefer different languages.
