Which Programming Languages Should I Begin With as a Total Beginner?

I'm 19 years old and have never attempted to learn programming before, but it's something I've always dreamed of doing since childhood. I studied commerce, and my interest in programming has recently sparked back up, so I'm ready to dive in! I've come across various suggestions online, with people recommending languages like Python, C#, and C++. I'm a complete newbie and would appreciate some guidance on which languages to start with. Also, since I'm currently unable to afford paid courses, could you recommend some free resources for learning? I'd prefer not to switch to a computer science program. Thanks!

If you're just starting your programming journey, I'd say Python is a great choice. It's beginner-friendly and versatile, making it easier to pick up for someone just starting out. You can find tons of free resources online, like Codecademy or freeCodeCamp, to help you get started! Plus, many developers use it in different areas, so you'll have plenty of opportunities to apply what you learn.

Think about what kind of projects you want to tackle. Python is great for anything from web development to data science, and C# has a strong foothold in game development, especially with Unity. Honestly, either of them will serve you well. And don't forget to check out CS50 from Harvard; it's a fantastic free course that starts with Python!
