I'm building a new PC to upgrade from my old AM4 setup because I've got a good deal on a 5090 GPU. I'm planning to use an Asus 870 motherboard and a Ryzen 9800X3D CPU. I've come across a few RAM options that I'm considering, all of which are priced similarly:
- Corsair 6400 C36 non-RGB for 350 CAD (open box but still in its plastic packaging)
- Corsair 6000 C36 RGB for 410 CAD (new in box with receipts)
- Crucial 6400 C32 non-RGB for 375 CAD (also new in box with receipts)
Since I don't care about RGB lighting, I'm trying to figure out which RAM would offer the best performance for my setup. Any advice would be appreciated!

Honestly, it might not make much difference. The X3D chips aren't too concerned with RAM speed. If you're mainly gaming, DDR5 speeds really don't show much benefit over DDR4. There are tons of videos showcasing this! Lower latency and tighter timings are great but truly shine when you're handling large data transfers. Save your cash and just go for whatever is cheapest.
The 6400 C32 is the fastest on paper, but reaching those overclock speeds in gear 1 can be tricky. Since it's the cheapest option and still comes with receipts, I'd recommend that one. You could always set it to 6000 or 6200 if needed.
I'm leaning towards the Crucial C32 because it has lower latency and a higher frequency. That should give you better performance overall. What do others think?
Crucial all the way!
