Hey everyone! I'm looking for some advice on upgrading my CPU, as I'm currently using an Intel i7-10700k. I'm planning to stick with my RTX 4080 for now, but I know that upgrading the CPU means a major overhaul of my system. After researching extensively, I've narrowed it down to three CPUs: the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, Ryzen 9 9900X3D, and Ryzen 9 9950X3D. The 9800X3D is around 2300 SAR, the 9900X3D is on sale for 2800 SAR (but usually costs 3100 SAR), and the 9950X3D goes for about 4200 SAR. I mainly enjoy simulation games like Cities Skylines, DCS, Squad, and Arma—games that are pretty demanding on the CPU. I'm not looking to upgrade again for a long time and want something that will last me at least 5 years. Is that realistic?

If you're mainly gaming, I'd recommend the 9800X3D. It performs well for games, and its architecture is efficient for gaming needs. If you need something for both gaming and productivity, then consider the 9950X3D, which has more cores for multitasking. The AM5 platform is expected to remain relevant until around 2027, so going with either the 9800X3D or 9950X3D is a smart choice for future-proofing.

What do you mean by the support until 2027? Is that just about socket compatibility?
