I'm trying to decide between two options for my new PC build. One option is a Ryzen 5 5500 with a 512GB NVMe SSD, a solid power supply, and a decent case. The other option is a Ryzen 5 5600X, but it comes with an old used power supply and no SSD, plus a pretty poor case. I'm planning to game at 1440p and play some CPU-intensive games like Rust and EFT. I already have a 128GB SATA SSD without DRAM that runs Windows fine, but I'm not sure which setup would be better overall.

It sounds like you're bundling the components a bit weirdly. If the difference in price between the two CPUs isn't too significant, you might want to get just the CPUs without all that extra stuff. That way, you can invest in a better setup overall, especially since you'll want a good case and power supply for gaming.
Yeah, I agree! Go for the 5500 with the SSD and decent power supply. It’ll serve you better in the long run than the 5600X with outdated components.
