Which SSD brands should I definitely steer clear of?

Hey everyone! I'm on the hunt for a reliable SSD, preferably 1TB or larger, either NVMe or SATA, that won't break the bank. I was considering Goodram, but I've come across quite a few reviews indicating that their drives tend to fail after just a few months. Since I plan to store important files, I really need something dependable. What brands do you recommend avoiding?

I’ve had great experiences with brands like WD, Samsung, Kioxia, Sabrent, Kingston, and Crucial. But definitely steer clear of A-Data and some other lesser-known brands. Watch out for Sabrent Rockets too; they have a bad rep for dying quickly! Also, Kingston’s been known to change their components on their NV series without notice, which can be really frustrating. I’d recommend sticking with the more trusted names!

True! I was a bit wary of Kingston ever since the NV2 issues came to light. I also hear Samsung has some potential firmware issues with their 990 Pro, so just keep that in mind if you go with them.

Haha, yeah, I about fell for the Sabrent hype, but the more I read, the more I backed away. It's always better to go for trusted brands, especially when you’re storing important stuff!

If you share your country and budget, it might help narrow down your options! In general, reliable brands include Kioxia, Micron/Crucial, Samsung, SK Hynix, and WD/Sandisk. But be cautious—some of Crucial's cheaper drives use QLC flash, which isn't the best for longevity. Samsung can also be overpriced and sometimes there's a risk of fakes if you find too good of a deal. Consider the Kioxia Exceria Plus G3 or the WD Blue SN5000 for solid options!
