I'm building a new PC with a Ryzen 7 9800x3d, Asus ROG Strix B850G, RX 9070 XT, and Kingston Fury DDR5 6000 CL36 RAM. I'm trying to decide between two SSDs:
1. Acer Predator GM9 Gen 5 - 4TB, with read speeds of 11500 MB/s and write speeds of 11000 MB/s for $431.
2. Lenovo LN960 PCIe 4 - 4TB, with read speeds of 7500 MB/s and write speeds of 6500 MB/s for $253.
There are also other options like the Black Opal NV7000, which has the same specs as the Lenovo for $300, and the Black Opal X570 Gen 5 at 14500 read speed for $362. I understand that the Acer GM9 has DRAM while the others don't, but I'm unclear if the Black Opal X570's higher speeds justify its higher price. Any advice would help!

The speeds you mentioned are for sequential tasks, but it really depends on what you're using the SSD for. If it’s mainly for gaming and general use, there won’t be a significant difference between these options. Most consumers won’t notice a performance drop with drives that are DRAM-less, especially since they use HMB technology. Just keep your usage in mind when making your choice!
Unless you're planning on video editing or doing something that requires heavy sequential reads/writes, I'd suggest going for the cheaper one. The Lenovo should perform just fine for general tasks. If you're still unsure about the differences, it’s often negligible for everyday use!

I'm leaning towards the Lenovo, but what's the real difference between Gen 4 and Gen 5? I haven’t been able to find any decent comparisons between DRAM and HMB drives at similar speeds!
