Which type of computer should I buy?

I'm in the market for a new computer because my old one is pretty much worthless. I've narrowed it down to four options: a regular desktop PC, an all-in-one desktop, a gaming laptop, or a standard laptop. I'm not sure which would be the best choice for me—any advice?

If you're looking for long-term functionality and serviceability, building your own PC can be a great skill that gives you the best performance for your buck. Just make sure to grab your peripherals too!

That's true! Building your own can save money, but it does require a bit of research and learning.

All-in-ones can be convenient, but I advise against them unless you're really short on space. A good gaming laptop might serve you, but honestly, for the price you'd pay for a decent gaming laptop, you could get a powerful desktop and a regular laptop.

A desktop allows for upgradeability and better heat management, which can extend component life. However, laptops offer portability. If you give more details on how you intend to use the computer, it may help refine the suggestions!

I don't game, but I use a gaming laptop for photography work, and it's pretty nifty. Just remember, unless you need that portability, a desktop usually offers better performance for a lower price and is easier to upgrade.

If you're planning to move your computer around a lot, a laptop is the way to go. Otherwise, go for a desktop. If gaming is a priority and your budget allows, a gaming PC would be great; if you're not into gaming, then a standard desktop will do just fine.
