Which Upgrade Should I Choose for My Gaming Setup?

I'm considering some upgrades for my gaming PC and need advice. My current setup includes an Intel i5-12400 CPU, an MSI Gaming Trio RTX 3070 GPU, 32GB of RAM, and a MSI Pro B660M-A motherboard, powered by a 650w PSU. I also have a Corsair H100 cooler and a UFHD monitor with a resolution of 2560x1080.

I'm looking at two main upgrade options: first, moving to an i7-14700f with an 850w PSU and a new cooler that supports the 14700f, which is more budget-friendly. Secondly, I'm thinking about upgrading to an RTX 5070Ti along with the 850w PSU, but that's going to be much pricier.

Since I cap my FPS at 60 and won't exceed that, I'm curious how much bottlenecking might occur with a GPU upgrade affecting my CPU. I'm mainly upgrading because my current build struggles to handle some of the latest games due to poor optimization.

Additionally, I've thought of a third option: upgrading to an i5-14600K with a 9070XT and the same 850w PSU. This option is similar to the second, but incorporates a 14th gen CPU. Any thoughts on which upgrade would be the best choice?

Go for the third option! It offers good performance without a bottleneck. The 14600K has a decent L3 cache and the new architecture provides better speed. Plus, the 9070XT with 16GB VRAM is a powerhouse! Just note that the B660M doesn't allow overclocking, but you can still overclock the RAM to improve performance.

If you're capping your FPS at 60, consider a budget-friendly combo with the third option. The 9070XT might still be overkill, especially if you're playing at 1440 resolution on ultra settings.

I think the third option is worth considering. What resolution will you be gaming at? If hitting high FPS isn't a priority, you could even save some cash with the 14400F instead.
