Why Am I Getting Bad FPS with My New 5060ti?

I recently upgraded my GPU from an MSI 1060 to an MSI 5060ti, but oddly enough, I'm experiencing worse FPS in some games. My setup includes an MSI B350 TOMAHAWK motherboard with PCIe 3.0 x16 and the 5060ti utilizes PCIe 5.0 at 8 lanes. I'm wondering if the PCIe version and lane configuration could be causing these issues. Can anyone help me figure this out?

It sounds like your CPU might be the bottleneck here. What CPU are you working with? Sometimes, if the CPU can't keep up, it limits the performance of your new GPU.

I'm using an AMD Ryzen 5 1600.

The fact that your GPU is running on PCIe 3.0 x8 could definitely hurt performance. The 5060ti isn’t working at its full potential on that setup. It's worth checking what games you play and how demanding they are too.

I think the main issue here is your CPU. The Ryzen 5 1600 can struggle to keep up with the new GPU and affect FPS, especially in fast-paced games. It’d be good to check your CPU usage while gaming.

That makes sense! I mostly play Valorant, PUBG, CS2, and plan to try out Battlefield 6 soon.

Your new 5060ti is limited by the 8 PCIe lanes on the PCIe 3.0 slot. It’s not the ideal setup and should ideally perform better with a higher lane count. Also, games can have different performance needs, so it might be game-specific as well.
