Why Am I Only Seeing 61.6 GB Usable RAM Out of 64 GB?

I recently checked my system and noticed that out of my 64GB of Gskill Trident Z Royal Expo DDR5 RAM, only 61.6 GB is shown as "usable." I'm curious about what could be causing this decrease. Is it a sign of faulty RAM, an issue with my motherboard, or could this memory be reserved for something else? Just for context, my setup includes a 9950x3d processor, a Gigabyte X870E Aorus Pro motherboard, and a 9070xt graphics card.

It’s totally normal to have some RAM reserved for system use, no matter how much you have installed. In your case, it seems like the iGPU might be reserving some for VRAM. Nothing to worry about!

That’s what I figured! Just wanted to confirm because I hadn’t really looked into it on my previous builds.

Looks like the iGPU is probably using part of your RAM. If you can, post a screenshot of your Task Manager on imgur and share the link here to get more clarity on what’s being reserved.

Just checked, and it shows 2.4 GB 'Hardware reserved'. Thanks for the insight, you were right!
