I've got an older setup with a Ryzen 5 2600 CPU, GTX 970 GPU, and an SSD drive. Lately, I've been experiencing random game freezes. I keep an eye on task manager and MSI Afterburner's overlay, and everything seems fine with no overheating. What's troubling is that my disk usage hits 100%, and then CPU and GPU usage drops until the SSD recovers, and the game resumes. I've reinstalled Windows and the GPU drivers, but the issues persist. I also have a spare SSD and a GTX 1650 GPU I can test with, but I'm not sure what else to consider. Any suggestions?

It could be an issue with your RAM or power supply. You should try running memtest86 to check your RAM.
Have you done a clean install of Windows recently? A fresh install can resolve a ton of issues that can cause freezing.
I can't remember if my games were freezing before I reinstalled Windows, but I did a fresh install, and the problems are still there.
If your SSD usage is hitting 100%, is it an NVMe SSD or a SATA one?
I'm pretty sure it's SATA. Definitely not NVMe.

I'll run memtest tonight. If the RAM tests fine, how can I check the PSU? I had some hurricanes last year here in Florida when these issues started.
