Why Are My New Computers Stuck at 1024×768 Resolution?

I recently purchased two pre-built computers from an online store, but I'm running into a frustrating issue: both machines are stuck at a maximum resolution of 1024x768. I've attempted to force the resolution higher, but it remains the same. One time, I managed to get a 4K resolution after updating the drivers for my Samsung Odyssey Ark 55" monitor, but upon restarting, it reverted back to 1024x768 or 800x600, with these being the only options even visible in the Nvidia Control Panel.

For context, my previous computer, which is a few years old, had no trouble at all, allowing me to choose from a full range of resolutions, including 4K. I've also tried swapping out the HDMI cable to rule out any connection issues.

Here are the specs for my new computers:
1. Ryzen 7800x3d with a GeForce 5070 ti
2. Ryzen 9800x3d with a GeForce 5080

In contrast, my old PC had an i5 processor (I can't recall the exact model) and a 4060 ti.

All video drivers are up to date, but I'm really stumped here and would appreciate any advice. Thanks!

Have you checked if the monitors are somehow set to that resolution? Sometimes they can have settings that limit their available resolutions. Also, are you using a split screen mode?

One thing to consider is whether the HDMI is plugged into the motherboard instead of the GPU. That can definitely limit the resolution options!

That was my thought too!

You should definitely make sure you're installing the GPU drivers directly from Nvidia's website. Sounds like a major issue with the GPUs—are you certain they’re the correct models? You might want to double-check them using GPU-Z to confirm.

Yeah, I got the drivers from Nvidia, and they show up as expected in dxdiag. The PCs had high ratings from different brands, so I’m a bit baffled.
