How Can I Prepare for a College Programming Career in My Final Year of High School?

I'm currently in my last year of high school and have a solid grasp of basic Python. I'm really passionate about programming and plan to study it in college, but I'm unsure about which specific area to focus on. What steps should I take now to get ready for my future studies? Any general advice for someone at this stage in their coding journey would be greatly appreciated!

The best advice I can give is to work on small projects regularly. It’s more effective than trying to learn everything at once. Consistency is really what will help you progress.

Don’t stress too much about choosing the ‘perfect’ sub-field right now. Focus on building things, like apps or tools, and just code consistently. Strong programming fundamentals and problem-solving skills are key and will help you in any area you choose later on. Also, learning how to present ideas and communicate with users is super important—lots of people can code, but fewer can create something people actually want.

Why not try making a video game using C and raylib? Just dedicate a little bit of time each day to work on it, or go all out when you’re feeling inspired. And remember, it's totally okay to start over if something isn't working out!
