Why are my Steam downloads so slow on Linux Mint?

I'm having a frustrating issue with Steam downloads being super slow, barely hitting 150KB/S. I ran a speed test, and it shows that my internet speed is fine, so I'm not sure what's going wrong. I'm also new to using Linux Mint, so any advice would be appreciated!

Just a thought—have you possibly limited your bandwidth in the Steam settings? Sometimes that can accidentally get set, which would slow everything down.

Are you using Wi-Fi? If so, it might help to try connecting your computer directly with an Ethernet cable instead. That could make a difference in download speeds! Let me know if you can give that a shot!

I can’t do that right now, unfortunately!

So, I’ve been in a similar boat. I tested both Wi-Fi and Ethernet and got about the same speeds at first. But I came across a video that suggested adding some code lines to my Steam settings. After trying it, my download speed shot up. You might want to check it out!

I already tried that method, and it didn't help.
