I just got my daughter a new iPad for her birthday and transferred everything from my old one. Since she's just 8, I thought it would be a good idea to keep everything under my user ID for monitoring. However, after she added my husband to her contacts and started messaging him from the iPad, I noticed a big issue: when he texts me, the messages go directly to the iPad instead of my Android phone. I can text him from my phone and he gets that, but his replies end up on my daughter's iPad. I can't access those texts unless I use her iPad, which is definitely not convenient! I even tried making a new ID, but that didn't solve the problem either. I'm still stuck getting his messages only on the iPad, regardless of who's using the ID.

It sounds like sharing IDs is causing all the confusion! You should set up a separate Apple ID for your daughter. That way, she'll have her own account, and it won't mix up your messages. You can also manage her account through Family Sharing, which keeps you in control without needing her to have full access to everything.
But if I do that, she’ll lose access to all the purchases on my account. Plus, I'm not thrilled about giving an 8-year-old her own ID!
