Why are my transfer speeds so slow from QNAP DAS to Synology NAS?

I'm dealing with a frustratingly slow transfer speed issue. It takes over a day to move 1TB of data, averaging about 40 MB/s. I have a QNAP TR004 DAS connected via USB-C to the motherboard, while my Synology NAS, set up with a 10GB Ethernet card and connected through a Ubiquiti switch to my 10GB motherboard port, usually performs well. I primarily use the Synology NAS for work and the QNAP for archiving, but moving files is a major hassle. Any thoughts on what might be causing the slowdown?

Is the slow transfer happening just for this specific connection, or are writes to your Synology generally sluggish? Also, does it start slow and then stay that way, or do you notice it getting worse after transferring a bit? Depending on the type of drives in your Synology, some SSDs use a pSLC cache, which can make initial transfers fast. If that cache runs out, the speed drops. Just curious!

Nope, the Synology usually performs exceptionally well for my tasks. I actually edit large video files from it without any problem. The slow speeds stick at around 40 MB/s right from the start. I have 6 Western Digital 10TB Red Plus drives in the Synology and Seagate IronWolf 12TB drives in the QNAP, both 7200 RPM. No SSDs here.
