I'm really frustrated because I've been having issues with my USB-C cables recently. Initially, I thought my old charger was the problem when it stopped charging my phone, which led me to believe it was damaging the cables since they also stopped providing power. I ended up using a power bank for charging while I looked for a new charger.
A couple of weeks later, I bought a new charger and a USB-C charging cable from a reputable brand, and when it arrived, it worked for a short time. But after about an hour of charging, my phone stopped charging again, and the cable no longer worked with any USB-C devices.
This has left me feeling a bit desperate - are the cables dead for good? Could my phone be causing the cables to fail, even though it charged fine with the power bank? And how can I resolve this mess? Also, just to clarify, my old charging setup was USB-A to USB-C, while the new one is USB-C to USB-C. I'm using an Infinite Note 30 VIP. Isn't USB-C to USB-C the standard now for phone charging?

What wattage is your phone trying to pull? Some of the newer android models can draw a lot of power, like laptop-level wattage! Make sure the cables you buy can handle the power your phone needs.
When you say the cables stop working for your phone, do they work with other devices afterward?
No, neither the previous nor the new cables work on other devices after they stopped charging my phone.
It's pretty rare for a charger to destroy cables. It's more likely that the cables you got are low quality and can't handle the current. Try searching for cable reviews to find ones that are thicker and more reliable; they generally handle high current better. Remember, thick cables are usually better!
Haha, totally! It's usually a combo of thin wiring and chargers pushing high amperage. You definitely want something that can handle what you're throwing at it!
Thanks for the tip! I bought a UGREEN 65W GaN charger with thick nylon braided cables, so I hope that helps. I've heard mixed things about UGREEN's quality, but in my area, they're pretty well-regarded.

The charger that came with my phone is rated at 65W and supports fast charging. I got a 65W charger from UGREEN to match it. I also tried two cables: one USB-C to USB-C rated for 100W/5A and another USB-A to USB-C rated for 60W/3A.
