I built my PC this summer and picked up some Corsair Vengeance DDR5 64GB RAM sticks for £155 on eBay. Recently, I've noticed that the same RAM sticks are now being listed for around £800! Can someone explain what caused this drastic price increase?

AI datacenters are definitely the reason for this craziness! They're just buying everything up.
AI firms really cornered the market on RAM, driving costs way up. It's kinda wild to see how demand from these companies can affect prices so dramatically!
The spike in RAM prices is mainly due to high demand from AI companies. They've been purchasing massive amounts of RAM for their workloads, which led suppliers like Micron to prioritize orders for AI datacenters over consumers. This shift has drastically reduced supply for everyone else, and because of that, prices have shot up and probably won't drop back down anytime soon.
I can relate, just stepped out of my cave and was shocked too!
Honestly, I tried searching for info but didn't find much. It feels like every thread is a repeat of the last. Just wanted to hear it from someone else!

Haha, want to trade some RAM? I have DDR3 that I don't need anymore!
